What is a motorized window treatment?
Motorized window treatments have a built-in electric motor to operate a roller, other lifting mechanism, or tilt vanes and slats. Motors can be wireless, operated with a battery, or hard-wired into new construction homes and buildings.
What is PowerView® Gen 3 Automation?
PowerView Gen 3 Automation is the latest automation innovation from Hunter Douglas. The award-winning PowerView system has been reimagined, taking all of the unmistakable features you know and love and delivering a new, intuitive, high performance experience.
Do I need to run wires or plug PowerView shades in?
No wiring is necessary for products with PowerView Automation. Hunter Douglas offers a variety of power options, including battery and plug-in power supplies to fit any application.
Hunter Douglas also provides hard-wired automated shades for new construction and extensive remodels.
Is Gen 3 using Bluetooth Version 5.0?
Yes.
What is the range for Bluetooth? How well does it work in condominiums with concrete, steel beams, and multiple wireless networks?
As with all RF (Radio Frequency) communication, Bluetooth range can vary depending on environmental factors, wall construction, etc. That being said, Gen 3 uses smart wireless technology that actively channel-hops around bands of interference in real-time, as well as bi-directional error handling, to provide as much as an 8x improvement in range (compared to PowerView Gen 2) in complex wireless environments. This improvement is the reason that Gen 3 does not employ repeaters.
How much do motorized shades cost?
The cost for motorized shades depends on the size of your window treatment, the Hunter Douglas window treatment product you choose, and the control and power option(s) you select.
Do Hunter Douglas automated shades have built-in Wi-Fi?
No, all PowerView shades communicate via Hunter Douglas’ proprietary wireless PowerView® Shade Network and Bluetooth technology
If your system has a Gateway hub, the signal from the shades goes to the Gateway which then communicates with your shades via the PowerView protocol.
If your system also has a smart home hub such as Amazon Echo or Google Nest, the Gateway communicates with that device via your home Wi-Fi network.
If your system does not have a Gateway hub, your phone communicates directly with your shades via Bluetooth technology.
If you are using the Pebble and/or Surface remotes, they communicate with your shade using the PowerView Network.
What is a PowerView Shade Network?
The PowerView Shade Network is a unique radio frequency ID that allows PowerView Automation devices to communicate with each other within a home. All PowerView Devices in a home should be added to the same PowerView Shade Network. This allows for easy installation of additional control options, such as the Gateway Hub, PowerView Scene Controllers, and PowerView Gen 2 devices. Additionally, remotes joined to the same PowerView Shade Network will be able to operate all window coverings in the PowerView Shade Network as desired.
What is a PowerView Gateway?
The PowerView Gateway and Gateway Pro hubs connect to a Wi-Fi router and communicate with Hunter Douglas PowerView shades home devices. These include voice assistant devices as well as smart home control systems (Amazon Echo Hub and Google Nest Hub).
Both Gateway models store user-defined data, such as scene and automation information/settings, and provide control of window coverings from anywhere in the world using the RemoteConnect™ feature.
Gateway and Gateway Pro have the same sculptural housing with an additional port on the back side of the Gateway Pro model.
How long can I expect the batteries to last on my battery-powered automated window coverings?
Battery life for PowerView automated window treatments using is approximately one year, depending on shade size, configuration, and usage.
How long can I expect the batteries to last on my Pebble or Surface remote?
Pebble and Surface remote coin batteries- The replaceable battery in the Pebble will last 6 months or more for most users. Avid users may have to replace it slightly more often.

Alternatively, disable the auto-wake function by pressing and holding the group “6” button on the remote for approximately six seconds. What is the warranty for PowerView motorized components?
PowerView® Gen3 (after Spring 2022) and Legacy PowerView® (prior to Fall 2022) have a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase for the original owner. After five years. some products and systems may have replacement limitations.
Can I convert my Hunter Douglas Product?

What is a PowerView Pebble?
The PowerView Pebble is Hunter Douglas’ hand-held remote control device. Its award-winning organic design and wide range of colors sets it apart from other remote controls.


What is a PowerView Surface controller?
The PowerView Surface is a wall-mounted remote control device. Its functions are the same as the Pebble remote control.

How many shades can I control using the PowerView Pebble Remote or PowerView Surface Remote?
A PowerView Remote can be used to operate numerous shades in groups, as long as the window coverings can receive commands from the remote, or six window coverings individually.
How far away can I be when operating my wirelessly controlled motorized window treatments from my PowerView Remote?
Operational distances will vary based on the construction of the home. Large open areas promote greater operational distances. Hunter Douglas recommends one remote per room with motorized window treatments.
Can I use a 3rd party remote to operate my Hunter Douglas shades with PowerView Automation?
No, 3rd party ‘universal’ remotes cannot be used to directly control Hunter Douglas PowerView automated window treatments.
What does the “Favorite” button on the PowerView remote do?
A “Favorite” position can be created and set for every automated shade in the home. The “Favorite” button is a quick and easy way to send shades to their specific position(s) from a single button press. This feature makes it easy to perfectly align shades with window sashes, rails, sills, grids, etc. for your perfect look every time.
Can I use my new PowerView Pebble Remote to operate my PowerRise® 2.1 shades that I had previously purchased?
The new PowerView Components use the PowerView Communication Protocol, a different communication method from the previous Platinum™ Technology platform and cannot be used to control older shading products.
What is a PowerView Pebble Scene Controller?
The PowerView Pebble Scene Controller works in conjunction with the PowerView Hub to quickly navigate and activate your personalized list of scenes. Available in Pebble or Pebble surface options.

Do I need an internet connection to set up the PowerView App to control my shades?
No, an internet connection is not necessary. However, for new PowerView Gateway installations, it is required that the Gateway be connected to a router with internet access in order for it to download the latest firmware updates from the Hunter Douglas PowerView Server. An internet connection to the router is also necessary for using the Gateway’s RemoteConnect feature as well as keeping the time, date, and firmware up-to-date.
Can I operate my shades from outside of my home anywhere in the world using the PowerView App on my Apple® or Android™ device?
Yes, adjust your window coverings featuring PowerView Automation to preset scenes when you’re away via the RemoteConnect™ feature. RemoteConnect must be enabled in your PowerView Gateway and accessed from a PowerView Account. Additionally, your PowerView Gateway must be connected to your home’s internet network.
What does the PowerView App do with my personal information?
Your privacy is very important to us, and any information you provide in the PowerView App is not used without your consent. You can review Hunter Douglas’ Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for more information.
What is RemoteConnect™?
RemoteConnect is a feature within the PowerView App that allows users to activate scenes while outside the home, anywhere internet connectivity is possible. It requires a connected PowerView Gateway with RemoteConnect enabled.

Yes, automations will continue to operate window coverings to pre-set scenes at the programmed time(s) of day even if the mobile device is not in the home. All automation settings are stored in the PowerView Gateway.
What is a scene?
A scene is a combination of pre-programmed window covering positions in any given room, adjusted to the exact position that you want. Scenes can be created and operated by the PowerView App to meet different light and privacy needs throughout the day. Just activate the scene with a touch and the window coverings move to their perfect pre-set positions. What is a scene group?
A scene group is a collection of scenes you have already created that allow you to activate multiple scenes at the same time.

What is RemoteConnect™?

Do automations automatically change for Daylight Savings Time?
Yes, automations will adjust for daylight saving time in your time zone automatically after you connect to the PowerView Gateway using the PowerView App. The internal clock in the PowerView Gateway will update to the current date and time. If the Gateway is connected to the internet, Daylight Savings Time will be automatically updated.
What is a PowerView Gateway?
The PowerView Gateway enables use of the PowerView App. It connects to a Wi-Fi router and communicates with Hunter Douglas window coverings that feature PowerView Automation. It stores user-defined data, such as scene and automation information/settings, and it provides control of window coverings from anywhere in the world using the RemoteConnect™ feature.
Can I control my window coverings with PowerView Automation from my 3rd Party home automation system?

Can each PowerView user within a home have their own dashboard configuration?
Dashboard information is stored on a user’s mobile device. Each distinct mobile device that interacts with the PowerView App within a home can have their own dashboard configuration.
