Whether you want more privacy from neighbors, a sidewalk, an urban trail, or nearby traffic, exterior privacy shades provide on-demand privacy while still allowing natural light into your patio, deck, porch, or pergola. Made with outdoor translucent fabric, your privacy shade provides filtered light, complete privacy (no view-through), protection from the sun’s heat, glare, and harmful UV rays. Privacy shades also provide golf ball protection when lowered.

How Much Privacy Do Outdoor Privacy Shades Provide?
Insolroll outdoor shades offer 3 types of fabric: Solar Screen, Insect Screen, and Exterior Translucent.
Solar and Insect Screens offer varying amounts of daytime privacy inside the patio, depending on the color of the fabric, weave openness, and the amount of light coming through windows from the inside of the house. View-through to the outside is excellent, while a shaded interior inhibits view from the outside in. Neither fabric provides nighttime privacy if the patio interior is brighter than the dark outside.
Exterior translucent fabric has no weave openness and does not allow view-through, day or night. It does allow filtered light to enter the patio space in varying amounts based on fabric color. Dark colors provide good room-darkening while lighter colors allow more light flow.

Outdoor translucent fabric blocks all view-through but allows light to flow through. Privacy shades offer greater functionality because they are fully retractable for an open patio space when privacy is not needed.

Oasis Privacy Shades should never be rolled up when wet. They should be allowed to dry fully before being retracted.
Shore fabric offers light-filtering in a range of colors with varying amounts of light. With no openness, it blocks all view-through, and unlike solid privacy screens, Oasis shades are retractable so you can adjust the level of privacy to your liking, for example, lowering ¾ to leave some visibility to the outside and increased airflow while blocking the view of the people inside.

The Oasis 2950 Zipper Patio and Insect Shade model is engineered to withstand wind up to 80 mph. Its innovative design allows the fabric and zipper system to flex with wind forces to avoid stress on the system.
The other Oasis models (2700, 2800, and 2900) are not wind-rated and should be retracted in windy conditions.
All Oasis models can be ordered with Shore Exterior Translucent fabric for outdoor privacy.
No, Shore Exterior Translucent fabric blocks view-through from both sides. However, you can opt to lower shades only partially to whatever level you feel provides enough privacy at any time. This makes it possible to see outside through the open portion of the patio opening at the bottom.
