This video provides a clear, step-by-step tutorial on removing the valance from a patio awning, making it easy to clean, replace, or repair the fabric trim. It demonstrates how to fully extend the awning, carefully detach the front bar, slide out the old valance, and reattach components—using simple tools and clear visuals.
In this video, we’ll walk you through the steps to remove your awning valance.
To remove the valance from your awning, begin by fully extending the awning to give yourself access to the front bar. The valance is attached along the bottom edge of the front bar using a spline cord that slides into a groove at the edge of the front bar.
Remove the end cap screws with a Phillips head screwdriver. Once removed, gently slide the valance out of the groove, working your way from one end to the other.
If the valance is tight or difficult to move, you can use a flathead screwdriver to carefully loosen the edge, taking care not to damage the fabric.
Store the valance flat or roll to avoid creases or damage.
To reinstall the valance, slide the valance back into the groove carefully and reattach the cap.
